Intellectual Property & Brand Use
Last updated: August 12, 2026
This page is maintained by The Voice They Leave to explain who owns what on this platform — our brand and software on one side, your memorial content on the other — and how to raise a concern if you believe something here infringes your rights.
What we own
The Voice They Leave™ owns, or licenses, everything that makes up the Service other than the content you upload. That includes:
- the name The Voice They Leave, our logo, wordmark, and visual identity;
- the website, application code, database design, and server workflows;
- page layouts, typography choices, and the overall look and feel;
- our written copy, guides, FAQ answers, and marketing material;
- our demonstration memorial, sample stories, promotional reels, and stock imagery;
- our QR generation, memorial verification, and publishing workflows.
These are protected by copyright, trademark, and — where applicable — trade secret and patent law. All rights reserved.
Trademark notice
The Voice They Leave™ and our logo are trademarks of The Voice They Leave, used in commerce for the hosting of online memorial pages, QR publishing for memorial markers, and remote video editing services. Use of the ™ symbol reflects common-law rights in the mark. We use ® only where a federal registration has issued, and this page is updated when one does.

Your content stays yours
Nothing on this page claims ownership of what you upload. You keep the copyright in your videos, photos, names, dates, and biographical text. You grant us only the limited licence needed to host, transcode, and display your memorial, described in section 3 of the Terms of Service. That licence ends when you delete your content.
We do not sell your memorial content, license it to third parties, or use it to train AI models. If we ever want to feature a memorial in marketing, we will ask you first and in writing.
Reporting infringement
If you believe content hosted on The Voice They Leave infringes your copyright, send a notice to hello@thevoicetheyleave.com with the subject line "Copyright notice" and include:
- your name, address, and contact details;
- identification of the work you say is infringed;
- the memorial URL or exact location of the material;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We review notices promptly, remove or disable access to material that is clearly infringing, and notify the memorial owner so they can respond with a counter-notice. We terminate accounts of repeat infringers.
